Mukhtar Ansari, a UP mobster who is currently in prison, was found guilty of murder.
Mukhtar Ansari, a political gangster, was found guilty of murdering Congressman Awadhesh Rai by a Varanasi court on Monday. On August 3, 1991, Rai was shot and killed outside his Lahurabir home. Mukhtar Ansari and others were the targets of a case that was filed in the subject.
A lawyer told the journalists in Varanasi that Mukhtar had been found guilty of murder in the 1991 Awadhesh Rai case. The court’s ruling will be announced later in the day.
According to a PTI report, Congress lawmaker Ajay Rai, Awadhesh Rai’s brother, responded to the news and declared that the issue has finally been resolved after many years of waiting.
“I remained waiting, along with my parents, Awadhesh’s daughter, and the entire family… Governments came and went as Mukhtar became stronger. However, we persisted. Due to the efforts of our attorneys, the court today convicted Mukhtar guilty of my brother’s murder.
After hearing arguments on May 19, the Special Court adjourned the case, postponed its decision, and set June 5 as the delivery date.
Mukhtar Ansari, Bhim Singh, and former MLA Abdul Kalim were identified by Ajay Rai in the FIR in this matter, according to ANI.
Mukhtar Ansari was found not guilty on May 17 by a Ghazipur MP/MLA Court on the charge of conspiring to commit a murder attempt in the district of Mohammadabad, Uttar Pradesh.
In 2009, Mir Hasan reported Mukhtar Ansari for an attempted murder under section 120B. At the Mohammadabad police station in Ghazipur, a case was filed against Ansari under section 307 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
In a 2007 Gangsters Act case, the same court convicted the gangster-politician and his brother, BSP MP Afzal Ansari, to 10 years and 4 years of jail, respectively.
