PSG will try to end the 2022-23 season on a positive note when they host Clermont Foot at the Parc des Princes on Saturday.

PSG’s season hasn’t been spectacular, but they will be able to lift their record eleventh Ligue 1 title after this weekend’s match against Clermont Foot, which will be Lionel Messi’s final game in a PSG shirt before leaving on a free transfer, with a decision on his future expected next week.

Messi’s two years at Parc des Princes have been mainly unproductive, despite a World Cup victory, a seventh Ballon d’Or, and several strong individual performances.

Nonetheless, Christophe Galtier’s team sealed top place with a 1-1 draw against Strasbourg last week, assuring they won’t be under any pressure on the last day of the Ligue 1 season, despite being odds-on favourites to win the French top-flight due to their superior goal-difference.

Galtier is generally anticipated to be fired as PSG continues their quest for European glory, and he will want to go with a huge win versus Clermont.

Clermont have had an incredible season punching above their weight and enter the final matchday sitting eighth in the table, just six points off a lower-tier European spot, which is quite a feat given they were promoted only two years ago and securing survival on the verge last season.
