Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that the administration will adopt the Uniform Civil Code in the state as soon as the final draft is received. The state BJP has given it a significant place in its vision paper for the assembly elections in 2022.

In finalizing the document, CM Dhami stated that all sections and communities of society had made comments while keeping their points open before the committee. The committee’s term has been extended twice by the state government. The contract has now been extended until September. The committee is finalizing the document after receiving over 2.5 lakh recommendations. The Law Commission is now working with the public to develop a national civil code.

In his statement on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the Supreme Court has issued its directions. Home Minister Rajnath Singh lauded Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for his efforts. It is apparent that in such a circumstance, the entire country’s attention is focused on Uttarakhand.
That the Uniform Civil Code, which will be adopted in Uttarakhand, would encompass a variety of connected issues and will be given as a model. This will make things easy for the Center and other states.
