Uniform Civil Code: Draft of Uniform Civil Code is being finalized, will soon be implemented in Uttarakhand

Uniform Civil Code Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has also stated in his election speeches that if the BJP forms a government, the Uniform Civil Code will be introduced in the state. He took measures in this approach after becoming power. To write the Uniform Civil Code, the Dhami administration formed a five-member expert group led by Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai (Senior).

State Bureau, Dehradun. On the initiative of Uttarakhand, the Uniform Civil Code will be applied throughout the country. The Prime Minister’s talk in Bhopal on Tuesday provided significant evidence of this. The committee formed to develop the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttarakhand is now working on finalizing it.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that the administration will adopt the Uniform Civil Code in the state as soon as the final draft is received. It is also obvious from this that the Dhami government’s effort had the approval of the Center. The BJP has prioritized the adoption of a Uniform Civil Code. The state BJP has given it a significant place in its vision paper for the assembly elections in 2022.

A five-person expert committee is at work.
In his election remarks, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also stated that if the BJP forms a government in the state, the Uniform Civil Code will be adopted. He took measures in this approach after becoming power. The Dhami administration has resolved to create a civil code that is uniform.

A five-member expert group, chaired by Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai (Senior), was formed for this purpose. This group has met with members of the general public, as well as minority communities, tribes, and women from around the state, and has taken their comments into consideration.

In finalizing the document, CM Dhami stated that all sections and communities of society had made comments while keeping their points open before the committee. The committee’s term has been extended twice by the state government. The contract has now been extended until September. The committee is finalizing the document after receiving over 2.5 lakh recommendations. The Law Commission is now working with the public to develop a national civil code.

The country’s attention is focused on Uttarakhand.
In his statement on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the Supreme Court has issued its directions. Home Minister Rajnath Singh lauded Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for his efforts. It is apparent that in such a circumstance, the entire country’s attention is focused on Uttarakhand.

That the Uniform Civil Code, which will be adopted in Uttarakhand, would encompass a variety of connected issues and will be given as a model. This will make things easy for the Center and other states.

In this case, the state administration has begun to strive to execute it as quickly as feasible. It is expected that after receiving the committee’s findings, the state administration would adopt the Uniform Civil Code when the bill is enacted by the assembly with the required revisions. On Tuesday, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami tweeted that the administration plans to adopt the Uniform Civil Code in the state as soon as the committee’s final draft is completed.
